Like a fine wine
Posted on July 25, 2008, by Conor O'Neill, under Entertainment.
In a change from our usual programming here at Bandon HQ, I kicked off a light-hearted conversation on Twitter earlier about great looking women who just get better and better with age (we also covered men). The results of the Twitter jury in chronological (not age) order were as follows:
- Neve Campbell
- My wife
- Marisa Tomei
- Maria Bello
- Catherine Keener
- Monica Bellucci
- Helen Mirren
- Isabella Rossellini
- Candice Bergen
- Mary McDonnell
- Natalie Portman
- Laura Linney
- Joan Allen
- Mary Louise Parker
- Lauren Graham
- Michelle Pfeiffer
- Felicity Kendal
- Glynis Barber
- Sigourney Weaver
- Susan Sarandon
- Helena Bonham-Carter
- Helen Baxendale
- Jennifer Beals
And for the men we had:
- George Clooney
- Paul Newman
- Richard Gere
- Sean Connery
- Pierce Brosnan
- Harrison Ford
- Liam Neeson
- Steve McQueen (I snuck that one in there)
- Hugh Laurie
- Alan Rickman
- John Hannah
- Adrian Brody
Those are far more satisfying that the pneumatic nobodies that grace most (wo)mens magazines. Any we’ve missed?

How the hell did we forget the angelic Susanna? Rest of night about to be spent on YouTube.

How about Madeline Stowe?

Gillian Anderson. She looks better now in the new X-Files movie than she did when the TV series started over 10 years ago.

Maddy Maddy Maddy, the number of men who lusted after her in the Mohican period. I must Google her now.
Gillian is an interesting one, never found her attractive in the old days. Time to check out the new trailer.
Back to Susanna, I’d forgotten just how perfect. Shame on me: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Hwfgev1ILiE

Keeping the X Files theme, I’d include David Duchovny on the list. Aswell as Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche.

Sorry, but look at this - http://www.jewishjournal.com/images/photos/toc_hoffs-susanna_092906.jpg - and tell me that’s a 49 year old lady.

She’s very well preserved
Meg Ryan and Melanie Griffith have a lot to learn.

It’s amazing how many times I get comments along the lines of “but she’s old” when I admit to lusting after any of the above women. Personally I find it slightly disturbing that men in their 30’s and 40’s crave after little waif like creatures…
Funnily enough I always preferred “older” women even when in my teens. I often spend more time with my girlfriend mothers then with my girlfriends (which wasn’t always appreciated by the latter)….

If Hollywood understood that most men prefer women to look their age, then we wouldn’t have horrors like Melanie Griffith walking around.
Some shrill 22 year old media-slut stick-insect or Mary Louise Parker? I know which one most of us would pick.

Of course you don’t know who MLP is Evert. Check here: http://images.google.ie/images?q=images+mary+louise+parker
Before Weeds she was in the West Wing and Fried Green Tomatoes (and a ton of other stuff).

Funnily enough I *still* do not know who a lot of the women on the list are…
But yes, you’re wife is hot ![]()

Babs is another one of those women who isn’t “pretty” in the obvious sense but just has something about her.
