Who do they think they are fooling?

Cork->Rosslare, Rosslare->Cork on a Bank Holiday Weekend. Number of cops encountered? Big fat zero. Number of hard-of-thinking suicidal cretins encountered? 4.

Oh but they did arrest over 100 drunk drivers today. Keep that up for 365 days a year and maybe it’ll be something other than a reflection of their day-to-day incompetence as they waste taxpayers money snaring people doing 45 in 40 zones on bypasses across the country.

Cork to Dublin Saturday morning, Dublin to Cork Sunday evening. Same number of cops encountered.

Silly me for thinking that the worst weekend in the year for road deaths would bring out the force en masse.

Hello, FWIW, I went from Cork to West Waterford on Friday around 5 and passed 3 different speed cameras, 2 operating from unmarked cars.

Good!

But I think “around 5 is the important bit”. One thing I heard on the news is that the Garda campaign started on Friday evening. Because of course no-one ever takes a half day on a bank holiday weekend.

I wonder how many of them were out at 5am on Saturday?

There was no sign of them at any of the usual Youghal to Dungarvan spots early on Friday. Ye gotta just love their reliability in always being in the highest revenue generation lowest danger spots on the road.

Speaking of that route, I’d love to know who came up with the 80kph stretch at the top of the hill approaching Dungarvan on the west side.

And as for the new 60kph on the overtaking lane on the east-side, arggghhhh are they trying to create accidents by encouraging everyone to overtake in the last 200 yards when it goes back to 100kph?

Ha! I live near Dungarvan and have been pulled over by the guards at that very 80 k zone you mentioned. But then again, I have also seen a crash at that point and a neighbour was in another crash there so, that’s why they want ppl to slow down.
It’s lala’s who don’t know the road who go up and down it too fast who cause the accidents. Blaming the council and the guards is too easy (I say).
(Nice site and good luck with the impending arrival)

Seriously, two crashes? Fair enough then.

Pity, as it is a beautiful sweeping bend particularly going up it.

Wife’s cousin lives near Clonea Strand. Beautiful part of the country, highly underrated.

And you have The Tannery!

Hopefully will have an action plan on new arrival on Tuesday. The ideal would be if the wee bint would arrive this evening but no hope of that. Raspberry leaf tea, me bum.
