Iwas just checking this webpage for some useful inforation and I couldn’t help but notice the negative comment made by Aidan referring to social care work in ireland as being quite ‘poor’ and giving advice on ’steering away’ from any social care courses in ireland as they are ‘not linked with any good post graduate courses or employment issues’ i think the comments made about social care are completely worng, aidan was only giving his view on social science and social work. i am a social care graduate and i and my fellow social care workers have had no problems in finding some of the most creative and theraputic positions in our line of work with may different organisations both statutory and private. it is a valuable and rewarding career where there is a high level of interaction with clients. some of the institute of technologies which provide the course such as W.I.T have a great reputation and the course structure is great where it is combined with practice placements and academic subjects and also places a focus on creative approaches to working with cleints and personal and professional developent. i would highly recommend. also as for no postgraduate opportunities i find this completely bizzare as many of my fellow graduates have persuded masters courses which includes in W.I.T the introduction of a Maaters in Social Care. many other graduates have completed reserch masters, funded by various voluntary organisations.i would highly recommend looking into social care as a career path
Thanks for the comments Libby but this is completely the wrong page to do it on.
