We’ve been using the same to make organic apple and blackberry crumble and blackberry jam. You may need to pick a few more berries though! I find that with kiddies in tow, I need to pick 3 times the amount of fruit required to allow for grazing on the job!

The orchard is throwing apples all over the ground now, but luckily we had some more piglets arrive at the weekend and they are gorging on the windfalls. The pigs are again rare breed Gloucestershire Old Spots, the traditional orchard pig. Tradition says the spots on their back are caused by being hit by the falling apples!

This time we are rearing them organically, and letting them free range again. At the moment they are in the front garden clearing a patch of lawn which is going to be managed as a wildflower meadow … eco friendly to encourage insect life ( plus no more petrol mowing) and Mummy friendly (no more 2 hour mowing sessions once a week), oh and goat friendly (the cut grass will be made into hay for the goats).

When these fellas are ready would you like to try one of our planned air dried sausages, or a slice of air cured ham? It would go in the post, unlike a picnic ham!

I would chew off my right arm to get some of your air dried products!

I guess you are watching “Crisis at Jimmy’s Farm”?

I wish we could get Jimmys Farm, but we are not really tv folk and only have a rabbits ears arial on a 14inch screen (well at least its colour and not black & white!), hence only the 4 Irish channels. Maybe one day it will come to RTE.

It won’t be necessary to chew off a limb to receive some pork, not this time anyway! Just a little thank you for all your blogging help in the past.

Three series of House MD enjoyed this way in our house.

Of course you have to watch it on PC unless you burn it onto DVD and have one of those el-cheapo far-eastern DVD players that can play anything.
