Seriously?

1.6 million people died of TB in 2005 and you think living healthier is the solution?

Our ancestors were all dead before the age of 40.

Uninformed is one thing. Refusing to accept reality is far far worse.

Perhaps you might look into the bcg a bit more. The blind followers of newspaper stories designed to sell copy would do well to think on the plight of thousands of "culled" badgers, reduced to "endangered" status in many areas due to ignorance. Nature is far stronger than science, thank God, if it weren't we would ALL be dead by now. Vaccines only throw statistics temporarily and regionally. There are strong commercial vested interests in selling bcg and other vaccines. Try aiming for a healthier and more educated life if you are worried about infection of any sort, back away from the flock. Use the wisdom of our ancestors to guide you rather than what you read in some cruddy newspaper!

Given that newspapers love a good horror story, I canot understand why they are not crawling all over this and reaming all of those who are responsible.

I hate the compo culture but this is one case where I hope, if any child is damaged, that they go to court on the individuals in the HSE who decided Cork kids are less valuable than others.

The reason there is so much wastage and incompetence in organisations like the HSE is that there is no accountability and no penalty for screwing up. If the 100000 people (!!!!) who work in the HSE felt their jobs were on the line with every decision they made (like those of us in the real world), I think we'd see a different health service.

That's exactly the case Donncha. I think you have to go to a clinic in Finbarr's.

Catherine mentioned to someone in a creche yesterday that she was getting the standard boosters for our two girlies and the reply was "I've never had any of mine done, I'm afraid to".

Maybe when their sons are sterile from mumps and daughters dead from measles they'll reconsider.

That's very worrying isn't it? I think in Cork you have to actually ask for the BCG to be given to your child otherwise they won't even tell you about it!
