It was bad enough with a few pints on board for one 39yr old (I think I actually wet my hands again on purpose such was the buzz. Sad, but true) There was a four-piece band playing 'lounge' muzak in the bar area - average age about 80years. They were not loud and lead singer chap had permed, dyed hair. Again with the power of Heineken this was hilarious. That was until he asked the bar manager to switch off the rugby game on tv as his start time was 9pm. Toys were out of the pram then for JD and his motley crew of Heinekened friends. We sulked, finished our bevs and departed. Great food though. To be recommended. I'll hafta check the hand dryer. We had a bad Dyson experience. I went out 7 years ago to get one after a good bonus. Brought it home to proudly show Catherine and then tried it out. Seemed fine but no great shakes. Discovered over time that the reason they don't lose suction is that they have bugger all to start with. And they never mention the unholy mess emptying them makes. Try doing it on a windy day. So we now have an old school Miele which would lift floorboards and has a nice clean bag inside it. Am I really blogging about a vacuum cleaner that I never touch? Great sandwiches, with all the trimmings. Good service too. But the highlight of our wobbly visit was the Dyson 'AirBlades' hand dryers in the Gents. Worth a trip alone to check those babies out. On my first experience I had overcooked fish, which put me off for a couple of years. But I did have an excellent lunch there in '04, with the best squid I've ever had - so hit-and-miss.
