It seems like many of the markets are better at providing things that are hard to get in the shops rather than being cheaper than the shops. Like you, I wish all of the markets (not just Bandon) had more general produce direct from the farmer without the supermarket margin in the middle. Hopefully as they get more popular, farmers like the guy at Halfway who offers great value, will attend more. But it is really up to them to make that decision rather than the organisers. If I have a bumper crop of herbs from my garden this summer,I might even do a stall ;-) You make a very good point.
