Dammit, I've been trying to keep the number of RSS subscriptions to under 200 (after touching 500 a few months back). This pushes me over again.

Speaking as someone who's seen the first series *a lot* of times, we don't know yet how Mac got into the coma. And I presume you're aware of the GW writers' blogs? (well, two of them):

It took me a while to figure out the coma thing too for exactly the same reason as yourself.

All I can remember is Guy going nuts over sleeping with his mother and an ambulance and a cliff. I think we have to imagine the other details. Either that or I missed an episode.

You should check out the Production Designers Blog. Some great photos:

Agree with u again oh bald one. Statham has to be the Basil Fawlty of the 21st centuary. And a better use of a false arm hasn't graced our screens since Zaphod. Still can't remember why Mac ended up in a coma, probably due to the fact that I was nearly always pissed watching the last series at 11pm. The earlier start might mean that I remember more of this one....the invisible line accross the secretary's office was another piece of surreal brilliance.

I thought exactly the same as you. I was a bit worried about it up to about halfway through. By the end I was alternately grinning like a lunatic and laughing uncontrollably. I may have actually rolled about on the floor at one point - possibly when Guy was describing his escape from the ambulance - "so I took off my dressing gown and wrapped it around my head like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean".

I've always liked the speedy-up stuff myself, but I don't think there were very many quality lines in the first half - it was all a bit too visual for me. I'm totally and utterly sold on it again now, though!

Right, so what did people think?

I started getting worried about 10 minutes in that it was not as good as last years series. They seemed to be relying to much on the slomo-speedup stuff which I could happily do without. But it just got better and better as the episode progressed. The whole turkey baster thing was bizarre genius.

By the end of it, I was dying to see the next episode.
