That really sounds excellent. I had my 4 year old badgering me yesterday to eat out somewhere so we’ll all head down next weekend to try it out. I’m glad they like kids – my four darlings would test the patience of a saint.

Looks like a new place is opening where Roco’s used to be. The “Bandon River Grill”. I like the name – hopefully they are aiming for good chargrilled food.

Any other recommendations? We’ve had tons of Paidrigin’s frozen Pizzas at home but have never eaten there. Any good?

Hi Suzie here again. My husband and I go there as often as we can, they have a new lunch menu which we have’nt sampled yet, but we hear it’s very good. We can honestly say their evening menu is excellent now, with steaks, chicken, fish and of course their own Italian as well, the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, and they are very attentive, without being overbearing [if you know what I mean] their desserts and house wine is too die for ; ) but most importantly the food is excellent. They also love children, which makes a change as a lot of places we know are not too keen on children. HAPPY eating where ever you may go.

We ate there once with the kids two years ago. Back then it was standard “Irish” Italian fare.

We haven’t been since but I know it is now under new new management and I haven’t heard if it is better/same/worse. I’d really love a good mid-range Italian in Bandon doing something a bit more than spag bol and carbonara.

My test of any Italian is to see what they do as antipasti. A good simple plate of salami/prosciutto, olives and preserved veg and I usually know I’m on to a winner.

I’ll ask her to pop a few comments on your blog. Anything with fruit gets my vote, anything with chocolate gets her vote.

The wee ice-cream maker we bought is doing the job nicely. The main problem is that it is too small

By the way, I suggest that anyone who wants to make ice cream at home (and you should, because it doesn’t get better than freshly-made ice cream) gets a domestic ice cream maker. They are not very expensive and are such a huge improvement over the “just stick it in the freezer” method.
